blueberry ginger rum sour
Sweet and bubbly Blueberry Ginger Rum Sour to propel you into the weekend.
I’m a bit blue today, and I’m not intending to create some sort of blueberry pun from this information. As much as I love running, it can be rather demoralizing when I peer at my stats from this year versus previous years, and it seems I’ve gotten slower rather than show much improvement at all. Granted, I haven’t been injured, which is a big plus and something I couldn’t boast before. Nowadays, though, my easy paces have slowed, and I’m not sure my faster paces have made much of a jump, either.
Relatively petty place to be stuck, I know. Running pace is ultimately not a thing ANYONE gives a shit about unless you’re an elite trying to earn a stable income. It does not highlight my efficacy in other aspects of life. Still, though, I wonder if my attempt at athleticism is misplaced. I’m either in the wrong disciplines entirely, or approaching them in a way that doesn’t make sense for me.
But you know what does make sense? A Friday cocktail. Let’s talk about that, now.
This pretty cocktail couldn’t be any easier. You don’t even need to simmer a simple syrup. The blueberry jam does the sweetening job, as does the hint of ginger beer poured overtop. Lemon and pineapple juices provide the “sour” contrast, and rum the boozy component.
Oh, and the ginger sugar rim. Totally optional, but quite fun. Provides a little saccharine nip before you even taste the rest of the drink. Delicious.
Take a break for yourself today, friends. Have a drink, lay out and read a book, take sometime to breathe through whatever irks or troubles you. I think in this day and age, the hustle is valued more than the quiet. I try not to get caught up in the former, and really cherish the latter. I think we all need a bit of that.
