blushing grapefruit ginger margarita
Simple citrusy fiesta in a glass. With bubbles. Because who doesn’t appreciate bubbles?
My mom’s a bit of a tequila hater so I thought that might have travelled down the gene pool into my own DNA mixpot, but turns out the opposite is true. I’m a big lover of tequila cocktails. I don’t think I’d take shots of it, I don’t really enjoy that collegiate pasttime anyway, but margaritas are truly one of the most refreshing imbibements out there.
I once also hated grapefruit, but that’s since changed. We shook hands as friends after my inaugural grapefruit cocktail, the Ruby Red Orchard Sour, and reacquainted with a Vanilla Apricot Paloma. Now this Blushing Grapefruit Ginger Margarita. Named such for a kiss of sweet effervescent ginger beer and the light pink hue lent by the juice.
Love this cocktail for a midday refreshment after time outside. It’d serve as a perfect pitcher cocktail for a party, a brunch bev, anything. I suggest it shaken but if you’re not feeling it, a good stir straight in the cocktail glass works just fine since there’s no muddling involved.
I also need to make fun of myself for a second: yesterday we’d a “Bursting” cupcake and today a “Blushing” cocktail. What’s next, something blistering? Hopefully not, unless I’m describing myself after a midday run in the Florida heat. Which is entirely possible after today, really.
If you’re really feeling the TEQUILA! serve as a main these Margarita Fish Tacos with Spicy Chili Mango Salsa. They go wonderful together. For dessert, the ever-popular Skillet Dulce de Leche Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie is a swell community-style treat. Just make sure you’ve enough spoons for all!
