elderflower margarita
Cheers to the weekend and finally not feeling like a loaf of bread!
Though, ha, I’ve surely eaten my share of bread this week.
I’m finally weaseling out from beneath this fly, and we’re celebrating health with an Elderflower Margarita. I’m quite thankful to be feeling more human because the sunshine was sparkling and glorious and the breeze strong today, so I was able to sneak out for a few gentle walks throughout the day to get some fresh air.
If anything has come from being sick, it’s that I need to appreciate slowing down more. Granted, I’m not one to find contentment from constant couch potato-ing, but in some ways I enjoyed not waking up to an alarm every day. Maybe I can translate some of that go-with-the-flow attitude to the every day, minus the whole viral interruption.
These Elderflower Margaritas are light and unique, with floral undertones boosted by the citrusy orange liqueur and bright tequila. A perfect poolside sip or brunch fixture, especially for Easter upcoming. Looks so pretty on any springtime tablescape!
What Happened to the Youngerflower?
Asking the hard-hitting questions here on FMG.
Elderflower liqueur is branded most commonly as St. Germain. I’m sure you can buy off-brand, but I prefer not to with some things so recognizable as this. The flavor is very gentle, like an booze-soaked flower petal, with some pear notes floating around in there. It works so well with the boldness of tequila.
No syrups, nothing fancy involved with this marg. Just shake or stir together some lime juice, agave to sweeten, orange liqueur (Cointreau is my go-to), St. Germain, and tequila. Pour into a cocktail glass, top with ice, and serve with a little mint sprig.
Beforehand, I like to rim my cocktail glass with lime sugar. Toss together some sugar and lime zest, run a lime wedge around your cocktail glass, and dip into the sugar. Always looks pretty on a good marg.
I’d dub this an Easter must have, or for any springtime celebration. Perhaps I’ll indulge in one once I kick this bug for good!
