immune boosting spiced cider breakfast protein smoothie

All around me, the sound of coughing. I myself breathed in a cold virus when I visited Colorado and whenever I’m ill, I a) blatantly refuse to accept it, then wipe out come evening, and b) completely spurn the idea of ever falling sick again. Then, I boil some ginger tea.

Aromatic winter spices are also powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial weapons, and likely you have a stash in your pantry. This smoothie is laced with cinnamon, allspice, and ginger, which all soothe preexisting illness and help power the immune system around the clock to prevent those ghastly soul-sucking sicknesses from taking hold. Honey is optional but wonderful to soothe a sore throat and swipe away any bacteria hanging out where it shouldn’t be. Banana thickens, protein fulfills, apple juice emphasizes the sprinkle of spice within. A perfect storm for ailments, a perfect quick breakfast or snack for you.

Frothy, smooth, and full of comforting spice. Make it vegan with a plant-based protein powder: vanilla is best but I'd imagine a caramel would taste swimmingly. If blending up the night before, give the smoothie a good shake or stir prior to drinking to ensure the components recombine nicely.
