Believe it or not, I only recently tried rosé. I guess I had the impression that it was a universally sweet wine, much like a riesling or moscato, two varieties I don’t really enjoy because of their saccharine profiles. Turns out, as with many things in life, I was quite wrong.

Rosé wines are just as varied as white and red groupings. Still, sparkling, sweet, dry, and every point in the spectrum between. Pretty fun to know I can experiment with a wide swath of rosé brands to find what I like.

From what I gather, spritz cocktails can contain, along with a sparkly wine or prosecco, any sort of liquor base. This one is a vodka spritz. Vodka is pretty neutral and pairs with so many flavors, and since I wanted to use peach and didn’t want to overpower the rosé, it seemed a natural fit.

Grab some peach jam, a juicy lemon, mint leaves, vodka, and your favorite fizzy rosé wine. Muddle the first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker, then add the vodka and some ice. Shaky shake shake. Pour over ice. Top with bubbles.

I’d love this drink for a pool outing, then when dessert hour rolls around, with a slice of Almond Blackberry Cake. Another option? Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl Bars. Yum.

Perfect summer party cocktail with vodka, peach jam, a touch of lemon, and plenty of sparkling rosé wine.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp peach jam
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • 1-2 tsp honey (optional)
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 4 oz sparkling rosé wine
  • peach slices and mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Fill glass with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle peach jam, lemon juice, and mint leaves. Add honey (if using) and vodka. Add ice and shake until frosty cold. Strain into prepared glass and top with sparkling rosé. Garnish with peach slice and mint leaves.
