pumpkin butter old fashioned
Cozying up with some pumpkiny bourbon sips this weekend.
I won’t hold you here long, so let’s whip out our shakers and make some delightful Pumpkin Butter Old Fashioneds right here, right now. After last week’s delectable Harvest Pumpkin Margarita, I couldn’t resist a second punky drink to share.
I actually sipped this down while recording a voiceover for a big upcoming project, mostly to give myself an ounce of courage to listen back to myself speaking over the microphone. I don’t hate public speaking, but I hate recording myself. Listening to playback is just painful, dude.
But hey, I got a drink out of it, so why not?
A few simple ingredients, a big ole punch. No better way to celebrate the first weekend of autumn, I don’t think. Cozy up on the couch watching football, or the tight-as-fuck MLB playoff race (yo, it gives me the heeby jeebies watching these wild card contenders duke it out).
The PSOF
This thing really doesn’t require much description, but I’m gonna description you anyway because that’s what you do on a food blogalog.
Find some good pumpkin butter, or make your own. I like Trader Joes’: inexpensive and real nicely spiced. Drop some in a shaker with bourbon, orange juice, and a dash of bitters.
Shakey shake that shit with some ice, and pour into your favorite cocktail glass. I usually add more crushed ice, and top with a cinnamon stick and star anise to make it look all spiffed up and pretty. If you don’t suck at peeling an orange, make a nice little whirl and throw it in your glass, too.
I’d say go full luxury and bake up yesterday’s Bourbon Apple Cider Doughnuts, and of course the Sweet and Savory Cheddar, Apple, and Caramelized Onion Pizza. Basically a technicolor explosion of autumn.

Fall in a glass (fall as in autumn, don’t fall in a glass please):
