Don’t you LOVE getting towed from your own driveway?

Minding my own business taking trash out this morning when I became aware that my car wasn’t in its spot. First thought was that maybe J moved it; when that wasn’t true, the panic set in. Turns out, my car was towed with the claim that I was parked in front of the wrong garage.

Don’t you think that after 4 years living here I’d know where my garage is?

So, after a call to the towing company (my god do you have to be a dick to work for a towing company) and a bit of waiting I reclaimed my car. Poor J had to witness my panic-stricken response to all this at 6:30 in the morning. Interrupted our nice morning rituals before the fuss of the day. Needless to say I had absolutely no brain space to do anything on Monday, which is usually my favorite day of the week.

Fuck you so far, June.

All that bullshit aside, I had a few nice moments the last seven days. I enjoyed a raucous Friday happy hour with friends. As much as I usually grumble about going out, I’m near always glad I did. A couple glasses of wine always helps loosen the mood (don’t worry, no driving for this one after a couple cabernets!)

Saturday was quite chill: some grilled bread snacks, a little pool time, and a big fat nap at 5pm. Sunday I visited my mom for a big grazeboard and some quality time. It ended up pouring briefly, which was quite relaxing for a slow afternoon.

I guess I can’t focus too well at this moment since I’m preoccupied with reclaiming my car from the tow site, so I’ll leave the narratives here. Hopefully the day will mellow down and I’ll find some comfort and relaxation somewhere within the tasks. It’s Target Day, which is typically enjoyable. We’ll see.

The Fuck We Cooking This Week?

…A creamy one skillet shrimp.

…A fun, cool summer treat.

…A big berry-laden salad.

A Few Things I’m Digging

Tomatoes…I really love working with baby tomatoes right now. The color enlivens me. My favorite recently is my Grilled White Wine Caprese Avocado Sandwich!

Linen spray…A little spritz of this Reflection spray from Casaluna smells so lovely in the morning! Always on my throws and pillows, and just a few presses. Makes a big difference.

Shops & Wish List

Fashion

Target…Liking this work tote for travel, especially the convertible crossbody strap. Lots of really cute straw bags popping up as well: the tote handbag, basket crossbody, and the XL beach bag are my favorites.

Skincare & Wellness

Tree Hut…Picked up their watermelon gel wash to try, I love all their body scrubs and body butters so felt right to give these a go.

Kitchen & Dining

Anthropologie…I haven’t felt really inspired for cocktails lately and I think I might be due for some new barware. Love this floral engraved pitcher for sangrias or iced teas, the matching floral highball glasses and the double old fashioned glasses. Maybe I need some florals in my life.

Week in Training

Monday, 5.29: 5.41 miles, 11:17 pace + 22 minute push

Think this is the last day of decent mornings, so trotted about for an hour (and a minute) to enjoy the conditions. Woke up in a bit of a rotten mood which the run didn’t cure, but some fresh air did help.

Strength:

  • 4 x 10 ea. side raise 15#
  • 4 x 10 ea. triceps ext 20#
  • 4 x 11 elevated chest press
  • Core work

Tuesday, 5.30: 4 miles, 11:16 pace

Probably the last decent morning we’ll have for awhile. Thoroughly enjoyed this run!

Wednesday, 5.31: 6.2 miles, 11:17 pace + 21 minute pull

Felt the humidity something fierce today; looks like that cool snap is officially over and lo and behold, a system is churning out in the Gulf. Wonderful. I also seem to have a thing for an 11:17 pace?

Strength:

  • 4 x 10 mid row 60#
  • 4 x 12 straight arm pulldown 32#
  • 1 x 8/3 x 10 ea. concentration curl 20/15#
  • Core work (FYI: don’t do a deadhang after burpees. That’ll make your heart go a-flutter and not in a good way)

Thursday, 6.1: 4.07 mile walk (1:06:00)

Friday, 6.2: 4.3 miles, 11:24 pace

Nice morning and FINALLY a heart rate under 160! Maybe getting back to normal after my flu in March. I also remembered to do my deadhang before going inside for breakfast.

Saturday, 6.3: 7.06 miles, 11.29 pace + 25 minute legs

Went out the prior evening for wine and pizza with my favorite people, pretty sure I woke up still tipsy (don’t worry, I did not drive!) because this run felt really weird. Like my legs weren’t really attached to me. Nonetheless, an okay session and I saw THREE cruise ships approaching! One was really far so I suppose that doesn’t count all that much, but still. Seeing the lights over the horizon is a treat I’ll never get sick of.

Strength:

  • 4 x 12 ea. leg press 80#
  • 4 x 15 ea. calf raise 90#
  • 3 x 10 sumo squat 90#
  • Core work + 35 second deadhang

Sunday, 6.4: 4 miles, 11:25 pace

Total running mileage: 30.97
