Holy balls, has it been a hot week. For awhile I was hopeful our summer would prove mellower than usual, but August really jumped up and slapped us all right in the ass with its massive sweltering palm. The two second walk from work to my car on Sunday left me drenched and grumpy. All I wanted was a cold shower when I got home, but our water hasn’t been cooling very well (probably because summer) so I settled for a tepid soak. Still felt decent.

I’m in denial, so this week I’m starting to test a few autumnal recipes. I won’t share them until September, but just know the fall is beginning to, well, fall. Someone I follow on Instagram posted about a 58 degree morning, so I’m aware some places will be in the transitional period soon – so while Florida remains in its web of shit, the cozier foods will serve some of ya’ll well.

Other than my usual meteorology report, not much else to say. I’m still hoping to launch a giveaway soon – I haven’t forgotten! – to thank all of you for dropping by and joining the Foul Mouth Flock. You’re all awesome, I’m glad you’re here, and you’re welcome any time.

Dat booty though.

I suppose my running is somewhat notable. I’ve lifted up to 40+ miles for the last couple weeks, which is a norm on which I’ve balanced for several seasons. I didn’t think I’d really crest over 20 for a long time since I had so many issues with the endeavor after the Chicago Marathon last October, but here we are. I guess my excessive morning thoughts have made me want to run and run to drain them out in the process. Rather cathartic, it is.

Tell me a victory of yours this week. Doesn’t have to be elaborate, just a little something that made you feel swell.

The Fuck’s for Dinner This Week?

As always, I’m privy to change my mind, but so far we’ve got…

A super luscious cheesy pizza

A tasty, healthy salmon bowl

A summery yet cozy chili

A gameday snack worth the kickoff of football season

A sumptuous pumpkin treat…to come in September!

Fun Lunchbox Recipes for Back to School

Some kid-friendly bites to send along as the new year rolls in.

Pesto Aioli “BLAT”

“BLT” Pasta Salad

BBQ Chickpea Cheddar Ranch Pasta Salad

Everything Pesto Cheese and Egg Breakfast Tarts

Cheesy Green Chili White Bean Rice and Avocado Quesadillas

Homemade Frosted Maple Waffle Pop Tarts

Neapolitan Sandwich Cookies

Extra Crinkly Nutella Fudge Brownies

Banana Fluffernutter Cupcakes

A Few Things I’m Digging

One skillet meals…Reverting to easy, fast recipes to tide me through busy days. One Skillet Creamy Coconut Lime Salmon is my go-to right now for a pop of serious flavor with very little effort involved.

Tinted moisturizer…Got my hands on the Winky Lux White Tea-Infused Tinted Veil and love the smooth texture and gentle hit of coverage. The packaging is also gorgeous.

Pop tarts… Finishing up a box of Eggo Waffle Pop Tarts, which were the inspiration behind this week’s Homemade Frosted Maple Waffle Pop Tarts. So good and certainly lunchbox worthy.

Blate tote… Still digging this find from Target’s 30% off sale last week. This handbag is large enough to hold my laptop and other daily essentials, which is perfect for our Boston trip next month.

Shops and Wish List

Fashion

Target…Couldn’t resist a few more finds during their 30% off sale. Love love love the dark green Lindie heels (though I wouldn’t agree with them being dark green) and could definitely see a pairing with a white tank + black or green pants. Buckled down for the slim fit mock neck tank but chose the olive green color instead. Finished off with the cream pintuck ankle pants, black was sold out but I figure the tank and shoes would look really pretty with white pants for the wedding’s welcome dinner. Picked up the essential blazer in cream, hoping I like the fit with the rest of the welcome dinner outfit, and the sage brushed jersey bike shorts for casual hangs.

Quince…Love this organic cotton blazer in camel, would look great to complete my aforementioned mint-and-cream wedding dinner look. Keeping it in mind in case I don’t like the AND fixture I mentioned above.

Kitchen/Dining

Crate and Barrel…Gushing over their Edge barware collection, especially the coupe glass. Definitely getting these leaf-shaped cutters, not for pies but for cookie projects I have in mind. This might be the year I splurge on Staub’s pumpkin coquette, I’ve loved it for a long time. For some reason I’m really drawn to the Marin “Merlot” collection, perhaps for a unique and festive Thanksgiving tableset?

Skincare/Wellness

Dossier…Mentioned the Citrus Green Apple perfume the other week…welp, ya girl finally picked it out along with the Woody Green Apple as a little gift for J. Will report back!

Naturium…Looking at their Purple Ginseng Cleansing Balm, or Versed’s Day Dissolve. Since I’ll probably be awash in makeup (for me) over the wedding weekend, I might be inclined to get a more hardcore cleanser to sweep it all off. I think both come in a travel version, so I might start there. Need to restock my day-to-day cleanser, so a bottle of their niacanimide cleansing gel (and perhaps a mini too) is in order.

Goals for the Week

Doctor appointment…Taking care of business, you know how it is.

8.29 meal plan…Of course!

August newsletter…Hard at work on the inaugural FMG monthly newsletter! You voted, I listened…the series will be titled Bitchin’ Bites. No offense meant. This is the Foul-Mouth Gourmet, after all.

Evening reading…I’ve been bookless for awhile now, but my pal said she would bring me a couple to try out. Need to re-form my nighttime reading habit since it’s far better than scrolling Pinterest for a few hours before shuteye.

Week in Training

Monday, 8.15: 8.15 miles, 11:25 pace + 50 minute full body strength

Oy, what a clunky run. I had a lot of rich food and a cocktail the night before so I wasn’t exactly energetic, but I wanted to get in 8.15 in honor of mom’s birthday! Heartrate hung at a 151 average which is pretty dope and something I’m happy with.

Strength:

  • 3 x 10 ea balanced press 25#
  • 3 x 10 skullcrusher 40#
  • 3 x 10 ea. single arm row 40#
  • 3 x 9 ea single arm bench press 35#
  • 3 x 10 ea. cross curl 20#
  • 3 x 20 glute bridge 60#
  • 3 x 10 sumo squat 60# SS 10 sumo deadlift 60#
  • 3 x 10 ea. single leg press 110#

Tuesday, 8.16: 11.01 miles, 11:02 pace + 20 minute swim

Needed a long jaunt to sift through my brain. It was not a nice morning, 76 dew and very still, but some new shoes and plenty to think about got me through the miles. I was smart enough this time to put on my swim bottoms so I could just leap right in the water when I was finished running. It felt wonderful and was very quiet. Just what I wanted.

Wednesday, 8.17: 8.02 miles, 11:06 pace + 50 minute legs & shoulders

Very steamy 80 degrees, I guess summer finally swept in after a string of strangely tolerable conditions.

Strength:

  • 3 x 10 plie squat 110#
  • 3 x 10 shrug 50#
  • 3 x 10 ea. side lunge 70#
  • 3 x 9 wide row 35#
  • 4 x 12 goblet sumo squat 55#
  • 3 x 10 Arnold 20#
  • 3 x 8 ea. weighted donkey kick 35#
  • 3 x 10 ea. side raise 15#

Thursday, 8.18: 4.02 mile walk (1:02:00) + 20 minute swim

Friday, 8.19: 7.01 miles, 11:03 pace + 35 minute chest & tris

Much nicer morning so I took advantage with a prolonged run. Felt a little mental gunk and the miles helped wash it out. I managed to squeeze in a short after-work gym session despite a lack of motivation, and I did feel better for it.

Strength:

  • 3 x 10 single-single-double bench press 25#
  • 3 x 7 press down 45#
  • 3 x 10 pullover 45#
  • 1 x 8/2 x 10 narrow press 35#/30#
  • 3 x 8 OH extension 50#
  • 3x 10 ea. single arm fly 20#

Saturday, 8.20: 11.02 miles, 11:07 pace + 50 minute back, bis, and legs

Felt really good so ran in circles for an extra mile of work. I will never understand why people get uppity about others who do a bit of milling around to reach a certain mileage/even time. I don’t think anyone who observes the phenomenon really cares.

Strength:

  • 3 x 10 bent over front raise 35#
  • 3 x 10 ea. concentration curl 20#
  • 3 x 8 close row 45#
  • 3 x 10 cable hammer curl 37#
  • 3 x 10 narrow pulldown 77#
  • 3 x 20 swings 50#
  • 2 x 10 ea. kickstand deadlift 90#
  • 3 x 12 ea. calf raise 120#
  • 3 x 10 narrow squat 90#
  • 3 x 20 weighted bird dog 25#

Sunday, 8.21: 4.01 mile walk (1:01:00)

Total running mileage: 45.29
