immune boosting spiced cider protein breakfast smoothie

Frothy, smooth, and full of comforting spice. Make it vegan with a plant-based protein powder: vanilla is best but I'd imagine a caramel would taste swimmingly. If blending up the night before, give the smoothie a good shake or stir prior to drinking to ensure the components recombine nicely.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 apple, deseeded and quartered
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 2-3 tsp honey (optional)
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup water or milk of choice
  • 1/2 cup ice (omit if making the night before)

Instructions
 

  • To make a freezer smoothie pack: add banana, apple, protein, and spices to a freezer sandwich bag. Contents keep for up to 3 months.
  • When ready to make, add all ingredients from sandwich bag, honey (if using), and ice (if using) to a strong blender and puree until components are well combined. For a thicker smoothie, use less liquid; for a thinner consistency, add more a tablespoon at a time until desired thickness is obtained.
