the jingle bell margarita
Also known as a spiced maple orange pomegranate margarita, but that's a bit too much to say when you've had a few.

- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 oz tequila
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp pomegranate juice
- 2-3 tbsp spiced syrup (recipe below)
spiced syrup
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 2 whole cloves
- 2 orange peels (about 2 inches long)
- 1 star anise pod
In a small sauce pot, combine the maple syrup, 1 cup of water, cinnamon sticks, orange peels, anise pods, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and steep for 10 minutes. Discard the solids.
Toss the sugar and cinnamon together on a shallow plate. Run a citrus wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass, then dip and swirl into the cinnamon sugar to coat. Shake off excess.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, lemon juice, orange juice, pomegranate juice, and syrup. Add ice and shake until cold. Pour into the prepared glass and top with pomegranate arils and a cinnamon stick, as desired.
